The 2024-2025 Application is re- Opening for grades 1, 7, 9, and 11! Please submit your application by December 13, 2024

The 2025-2026 School Year Application Will Open on Tuesday, October 1st

  • The Application Deadline is Friday, February 28th, 2025.
  • The Lottery will be held on Thursday, March 6th, 2025. (Snow Date is March 7, 2025)

The Application Process

Neighborhood House Charter School is a tuition-free open enrollment charter school for grades K1-12. We serve approximately 800 scholars across two campuses in Dorchester, MA. Families must complete a basic application by the application deadline to enter their child(ren) into the lottery. We encourage any family who is eligible to apply. To be eligible, your family must meet the following criteria: The student is a resident of Massachusetts. The student must be 4 years of age by September 1 of the school year in which they enroll.

Enrollment Preferences

Siblings of current NHCS scholars receive enrollment priority in the lottery for open seats. An application must still be completed for each sibling applying. Among all remaining applicants, preference is given to residents of Boston. For more information, please feel free to read the NHCS Enrollment Policy, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Waitlists

Waitlists do not carry over from year to year. You must reapply for your scholar each year.

NHCS provides this notice of the rights of scholars with diverse learning needs to attend NHCS and to receive accommodations and support services, including scholars who may have disability, require special education, or are English language learners.

TO SIGN UP FOR A TOUR, please email with the following information at least one week prior to the tour date:

  • Parent/Guardian name and student name & grade applying
  • Campus, date, and time slot for your tour

If you can’t make one of these events, don’t worry! We will be hosting Admitted Family Receptions in March for students who receive an enrollment offer and their families.

I moved to Massachusetts from the Dominican Republic two years ago and came to NHCS. The school is EXCELLENT! I made friends fast. In the Dominican Republic, we read books and answer questions, but at NHCS, we do experiments at school!
